Getting to know the customer, and researching their field

Before starting to sketch a display window suggestion for the customer, it is important to know the customer: What is the brand like? What are their values? What is their style? Who is their target audience? What is their product? What is their competition? What is "in" in their field at the moment?

The customer my team chose and successfully got, is 

ILO Knitting Shop + Café

  • Online shop with worldwide shipping + a coffee and yarn shop in Salo, Finland
  • Sell yarn made in Finland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, USA, India and Nepal, as well as knitting-related accessories
  • Their café products come from the local Café 68, and are gluten- and dairy-free
  • Colour colour colour
  • PS. Their websites are awesome


In order to be able to offer my best knowledge to the customer, I did some research on the world of knitting, and coffee shops.
