TYPOGRAPHY

"Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legiblereadable, and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefacespoint sizesline lengths, line-spacing (leading), and letter-spacing (tracking), and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning). The term typography is also applied to the style, arrangement, and appearance of the letters, numbers, and symbols created by the process." //wikipedia

As we are now learning to use Adobe Illustrator, our assignment was to find out what typography means, as well as look into some typefaces.

ROMAN TYPEFACE = ANTIIKVA // Serif
"Today, roman and italic type are mixed, and most typefaces are composed of an upright roman style with an associated italic or oblique style. Popular roman typefaces include Bembo, Baskerville, Caslon, Jenson, Times New Roman and Garamond." //wikipedia
- How to recognise: has a small line, serif, attached to the end of a stroke in a letter or symbol

GROTESQUE = GROTESKI // Sans serif
"In typography and lettering, a sans-serifsans serifgothic, or simply sans letterform is one that does not have extending features called "serifs" at the end of strokes.[1] Sans-serif fonts tend to have less line width variation than serif fonts. In most print, they are often used for headings rather than for body text.[2] They are often used to convey simplicity and modernity or minimalism. -- Examples of grotesque fonts include Akzidenz GroteskVenusNews GothicFranklin Gothic and Monotype Grotesque" //wikipedia
- How to recognise: does not have a small line (serif) at the end of a stroke

LOWER CASE = GEMENA
- How to recognise: a lower case typeface

CAPITAL = VERSAALI
- How to recognise: an upper case typeface

I have to admit that I am not sure these ones are correct, so please do not judge me too hard!
